CPR and First Aid ChallengeThe challenge courses require you to be proficient in skills and knowledge before you enter the course. As no instruction or training is given in the class, the challenge should not be mistaken for a full instructor-led practice session of CPR or First Aid. Challenge fees are non-refundable regardless of whether the certification tests are passed or failed. A challenge course is scheduled in order to give individuals the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skill competency outside of a formal class setting. Participants have sole responsibility for preparing for the knowledge and skills tests. An instructor will give the written test, and upon passing, will provide the participant with signals of the victim's conditions for which the participant should provide proper care. Anyone is eligible to participate in a challenge course for basic-level courses. Individuals who do not possess a current American Red Cross Certificate may participate in a challenge course only once. If they do not pass the challenge course, they will be given information on taking a full course. They will not be allowed to attempt a challenge course again. Individuals who hold a current American Red Cross Certificate may challenge as often as they like and as often as the challenge is available, as long as their certificate remains valid. Contact our office (see contact information below) for more information or to schedule a challenge exam. American Red Cross, Garland County Chapter |
