Opportunities
Join the Red Cross team by
donating your time and talents. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the
American Red Cross. Volunteers serve at all levels of the organization, from
disaster relief, providing health and safety instruction to coordinating
casework, performing clerical tasks, and greeting people at the front desk.
The Chapter has
volunteers reflecting all ages, ranges of income and the diverse community.
You may never work harder or get dirtier or get paid less . . . but it will
be the best job you never got paid to do.

Disaster Relief Volunteer Opportunities
Trained
disaster volunteers often start by volunteering on local Red Cross Disaster
Action Teams which respond to disasters 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Disaster volunteers who gain local experience also are eligible to serve as
part of the Red Cross Disaster Services Human Resources System to be deployed
to disasters around the country.
Disaster Action Team
(DAT) members are volunteers who respond to single-family fires as assigned
by their Disaster Action Team supervisor (DAT Captain).

Disaster Action Team members
Disaster Action Team supervisors (DAT Captains) assist the Red Cross
in delivering its mission to provide relief to victims of local disasters,
and help prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. They contact and
supervisor DAT members during a local disaster.
